Few Steps Required to Recover Doc Document


In case, you have lost significant doc files in MS Word, then there are possible ways to get back those lost doc files. If your doc files got damaged or corrupted and you need to repair doc files to create healthy doc files, so that you can access your files easily, then you need to follow the processes mentioned below:

Make a Search

  1. Go to Start >> Search > >All files and folders. Type the name of the file here (if you remember). Or else, you can simply type *.doc to obtain all Word documents from which, you can search the desired (if it appears in the searchable files).
  2. Now select ‘My Computer’. Under ‘Look in’ and then under ‘More advanced options’ you can search your doc file by clicking on “Search”. (Make sure that ‘Search hidden files and folders’ option is checked).
  3. Search your temporary files. Go to Start >>Search >> All files and folders. You can type *.TMP here. Get the information about the modified date etc. If no luck, search more temporary files and then unrecover through temporary Word file.

Check your Recycle Bin: You can check your Recycle Bin; you can look through the files present there to locate the doc file that you desire. In case, you find it, then right-click and select ‘Restore’ option. You can navigate the location where it was lying before. Still, if you don’t remember the location, then you can perform a search for it now as discussed above

Implore for Auto Recovery: In case, your MS Word application crashes or closes or shuts down unexpectedly, it saves the recent files. If you re-open the application, a Document Recovery task pane appear, where you can double-click to open your document and then save it by clicking the ‘Save As’ option in the file menu. So, try to open Word again and check if your document has been recovered automatically.

Is Word Ready for Automatic Back-Up? If you had previously set your MS Word application to automatically back-up documents, then there are some chances of getting back your crucial Word document. Check the original folder for any .wbk file. In Word, click File > Open. Browse the folder where you think the file was located and select ‘All Files’. You can find the .wbk file there. If Word file backup not available, then you can switch on to the next method.
